Klingberg Family Centers Specialized Foster Care and Adoption is licensed by the Department of Children and Families to recruit and train foster care and adoptive families for children who experienced trauma and/ or loss.  Making foster and adoptive placements successful for our children is our first priority.  Our program places a priority on identifying, training and supporting families who are willing to provide the special care that our children require. We are an open and affirming foster and adoptive agency who values diversity and all types of families. The process of approval is approximately 3 to 4 months; during this time families attend a program known as Parent Resource for Information, Development and Education (PRIDE), a home study is conducted including interviews with all family members living in the home, state and federal criminal record checks are submitted, and a disclosure of financial/ medical status is required. Both PRIDE and the home study are opportunities for families to work directly with their caseworker to sort out specific needs and determine an appropriate match.  From transition and throughout the placement, Klingberg staff provides ongoing support and education.  We strive to connect with our foster children and foster family in order to ensure an open, caring, and trusting relationship. Foster and respite care families receive a monthly stipend from the State of Connecticut through Klingberg that is designed to cover the day- to- day costs of caring for a child in your home.
